FS98 - Friedrichshafen G.II, 1916

VIRTUAL PILOT´S HANDLING NOTES
==============================

The 230 Hp Benz Bz.IV engines had manual mixture control, so enable this option in the engine-control menu.

Flugzeugbau Friedrichshafen Gmbh had the necessary patents to equip their aircraft with elevator-trim, unlike Gothaer Waggonfabrick, who had to throttle-trim their Gothas, and Zeppelin Werke, who had to fuel-trim their VGO and Staaken Giants.

NOTE:
-----
In those days these planes had no flaps, wheel-steering, brakes, or spoilers... On this model however, brakes have been left in to take the place of ground crew and chocks.

AUTO-COORDINATION: OFF
----------------------
Turns on this aircraft are effected with rudder, helping a little with ailerons, so please disable the auto-coordination option!

FLYING INSTRUCTIONS
===================

TAKE-OFF:
---------
Engines at full throttle. Trimmed properly, the plane takes off by itself below 90 Kph (50 Kt). The tail in these early, large aircraft does not come up prior to lift-off, so don´t expect rotation. You can of course raise the tail sooner, and then rotate, but there is a risk of nosing over under full bomb load.

CLIMB:
------
You will find the aircraft quite nimble, and at full throttle it will climb at a rate of 340 ft/min @ about 100 Kph (55 Kt).

SPEEDS: (for level flight)
--------------------------
Maximum Speed, full throttle: 130 Kph (70 Kt).
Cruising Speed: 100 Kph (55 Kt).
Stall Speed: 84 Kph (45 Kt).

APPROACH AND LANDING:
---------------------
For landing, throttle back to about 25 or 30% throttle and trim slightly nose-down to approach at 90-100 Kph (50-55 Kt). Just before the threshhold, throttle back to idle power and pull up the nose a bit to slow down, and touch down at about 87 Kpf (47 Kt).

Enjoy!
